So I was procrastinating doing my homework the other day by watching videos about how to not procrastinate on my homework. I came across this article that was talking about something from an Anthony Bourdain book. It discussed mise-en-place, or how cooks stations should be clean because what is at their station is a reflection of what is in their mind. I feel like this is a good way to look at making changes in life.
This calendar is focused on digital wellness. And you are probably like "What does mise-en-place have to do with technology and my screen time." Well. Let me tell you. Our phones distract us from doing things that we want to be doing, or should be doing. I literally started this blog post explaining how I was doing exactly that. So take this opportunity to put your phone and laptop and tablet and smart watch in a drawer. And you are going to organize something. It could be one side of you cupboard. It could be a jewelry box. It could be you entire room. Just DO. And don’t look for organization inspo online before hand. While it can be good to get ideas, it more often than not just keeps you from doing things because you feel like you don’t have the materials or the time. Or when you do get things to a functional place, you feel like it's not good enough because it's not a e s t h e t I c . SO GO CLEAN SOMETHING. ANYTHING. And at the same time clear your mind.
